Aaron Satterfield

Aaron Satterfield playing guitar

If you could hear the notes Aaron played while this photograph was taken, your mind would melt.

I desperately needed a searing and soaring electric guitar on “Oceans of Blood” to take the song over the top, but I didn’t know where to find the right player. Luckily, I met Aaron backstage at a show. After hearing him warm up, I knew I had found the right guy – someone that knew how to turn up his amp and assault the air. You can hear his beautiful rotophasing rhythms and blazing harmonic-beating solo work on track 5 of All Is Sideways.

Aaron says:

At the time of this record’s release, I am 24 years of age, and have been playing music for about 15 years. I’m married, and just had my first child. Music has been a passion of mine since I was in middle school, playing the Oboe (the sexiest of the woodwinds). Once I began playing in Jazz Ensembles in High School, I realized what I wanted to do for the rest of my life; play music.

Sometimes Aaron doesn’t play guitar… but only sometimes.

I met Scott, somewhat through our mutual friend; Lynn Graber. Lynn was recording a concert I was playing at, and Scott was giving him a hand. Scott got a hold of me a week or so later, asking if I’d like to play on his record. Having heard a bit of his music, I didn’t hesitate to say yes.

At first on the song, “Oceans of Blood,” I was playing what Scott kindly called “Guns N’ Roses” style guitar, which just wasn’t working. He wanted to feel some more passion coming through the speakers. Scott knew what he wanted, and knew he could get it out of me if he kept pushing. So after a few different takes, we end up with what you hear on the record. The track turned out great, and the energy of the song just moves.

The kind of passion, feel, and love for music that Scott has is rare to come by. I urge you to pick up this record, because you just won’t be disappointed.
